Shaping the digital future

Warm Welcome to the Website of the IT Planning Council!

Since 2010 the federal states and the Federation set about tapping the broad potential of the digitalization of society and let all citizens, public administration and the industry alike benefit from it. In Brandenburg, too, the public administration has been experiencing a process of change. Currently, a new e-Government Act is being drafted.

It is therefore crucial that both the federal states and the Federation keep a close eye on this process of change and together take on the fundamental questions of digitalization and information technology, so as to smooth the path towards digitalization and create favourable conditions for the municipal level.

I am very pleased that in my capacity as chair of the IT Planning Council I am in the position to help the public administration at federal, state and municipal level with digitalization and contribute actively to advancing the digital revolution. The IT Planning Council is the main body in the Federal Republic of Germany charged with promoting cooperation between the local, state and federal levels in the field of IT. Since its creation in 2010, it has been working to establish common IT standards and achieving a uniform level of IT security across the three levels of government, and it has supported numerous e-government projects.
